Season 14, Episode 9
Airdate: February 2, 2003

After shopping at Rainier Wolfcastle's bankruptcy sale, Marge gets mugged by a hobo near the Kwik-E-Mart's bathroom, and as a result becomes agoraphobic, never wanting to leave the safety of her home. Marge eventually becomes bored being cooped up in the house and decides to go weightlifting using the weights bought from the bankruptcy sale in her spare time. This leads to her gaining the courage to go outside, mug the hobo who mugged her and take up bodybuilding. At some point, she meets up with Ruth Powers, who also became a bodybuilder, during her exercises. Ruth goads Marge into using steroids, which leads to drug abuse and a women’s bodybuilding contest, all while scaring her family in the process. She sees the error of her ways after beating up all the patrons (barring Homer) in Moe's Tavern and Homer trying to snap her out of it, thus ending her bodybuilding craze.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out[edit | edit source]

Muscular Marge makes a reappearance in the latest Simpsons app, as a costume for Marge when the player buys the premium building Shapes: A Gym for Women. Marge decides to buff up when the newly constructed building comes into Springfield, as Homer fears that she might go mad with power like last time. However, he quickly changes his mind when he gets mugged by the same hobo that caused Marge to become agoraphobic and Marge comes to his rescue. Homer then takes advantage of this and starts making cries for help for little incidents in hopes that Marge will defend him. However, Marge notices this shift in dynamics between her and her husband and decides that it's probably best to quit bodybuilding.
