Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc[edit | edit source]

At the start of the events of the first Dangan Ronpa game, Sakura, as well as fourteen others, found themselves in Hope's Peak, with its doors and windows to the outside world completely sealed shut. An odd robot bear named Monokuma explains that they're all supposed to live within the academy for the rest of their lives, and if anyone wants out, they must murder a person in the school and get away with it at the School Trial, kickstarting the "Killing School Life".

However, it was eventually revealed that Sakura was blackmailed by Monokuma to be a mole for him early into the game, in exchange for the safety of her family and her dojo. She was supposed to start a killing incident should the survivors stabilize amongst themselves, but she was not needed to do so as Leon stabbed Sayaka "out of self-defense", Mondo bludgeoned Chihiro with a dumbbell in a fit of uncontrollable rage, and Celestia masterminding the murders of Kiyotaka and Hifumi.

At this point, Sakura has had enough of deceiving her friends anymore, and she decides to confront Monokuma and crush his psychotic mind games once and for all, as Makoto witnessed after waking up from being knocked out.

Before Sakura can properly confess to the remaining survivors, however, Monokuma beats her to the punch by revealing her to be his mole, which leads to an incident caused by animosity between the aloof Byakuya, lovestruck Toko, and defensive Aoi, who tries to protect Sakura from further slander. Following this, Sakura figured that the only way to do what Monokuma instructed without harming any of her friends was to commit suicide.

To that end, Sakura wrote a farewell letter penned in old calligraphy and busted the door to the Principal's Office before setting up a rendezvous at the Rec Room with Yasuhiro, Toko, and Byakuya. Byakuya didn't come on the suspicion that Sakura might try to kill him. Yasuhiro and Toko did arrive at the Rec Room, but by misinterpreting her message, or being forced into action, both struck Sakura on the head with Monokuma bottles.

Aoi, while initially shocked by her injury, having tried to dissuade her from meeting up with those three, was asked by Sakura to make her a protein shake at the Chemistry Lab. Once that was done and Aoi left the Rec Room, Sakura barricaded the room and downed the protein shake, which was poison by switching the contents in the Chemistry Lab, vomiting blood as the poison took effect.

Despite the pain, Sakura died with a smile on her face, confident that her friends would not kill each other anymore after this.
